Red Bench Speaker Series: Legacy of the Winter Games with Tom Kelly

The Red Bench Speaker Series presents, Legacy of the Winter Games with Tom Kelly, Thursday, February 20th at 7 PM via ZOOM.

Join us for an engaging virtual discussion with Olympic storyteller Tom Kelly, moderated by legendary broadcaster Peter Graves, as we delve into the enduring legacy of the Winter Games. Tom Kelly, renowned for his captivating narratives, will take us on a journey through the impact of past Winter Olympic Games, particularly focusing on the transformative legacy of the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City and the 1980 Games in Lake Placid.

Last July, the International Olympic Committee awarded Salt Lake City the honor of hosting the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, marking a return to the iconic site of the 2002 Games. Tom will explore how the legacy concept, first established with Lake Placid and refined with Salt Lake City, continues to foster community engagement and sport development in Utah. Discover how venues planned for 2034 are already actively used, building upon the foundations laid decades ago.

Beyond the Games, Tom Kelly will share captivating stories from his extensive career as an Olympic storyteller, offering insights into the athletes, moments, and behind-the-scenes experiences that have defined his journey.
